Connector testing generally involves the following items: plug force test, durability test, insulation resistance test, vibration test, mechanical impact test, cold and hot impact test, mixed gas corrosion test, etc.
Connector specific test items are as follows:
(1) connector plug force test
Reference standard: eia-364-13
Objective: to verify whether the plug force of the connector conforms to the product specification.
Principle: according to the specified rate of connector fully plug or pull out, record the corresponding force value.
(2) connector durability test
Reference standard: eia-364-09
Objective: to evaluate the effect of repeated plug and unplug on connector and simulate the plug and unplug status of connector in practice.
Principle: according to the specified rate of continuous plug and unplug connector until the specified number of times.
(3) connector insulation resistance test
Reference standard: eia-364-21
Objective: to verify whether the insulation performance of the connector conforms to the requirements of circuit design or whether the resistance value conforms to the provisions of relevant technical conditions when the connector is subjected to environmental stress such as high temperature and humidity.
How it works: a value of resistance produced by applying a voltage to an insulating part of a connector, resulting in a leakage current on or inside the insulating part.
(4) connector voltage resistance test
Reference standard: eia-364-20
Objective: to verify whether the connector can work safely at rated voltage and can withstand overpotential, so as to evaluate whether the connector insulation material or insulation gap is appropriate.
Principle: apply the specified voltage between the connector contacts and contacts, and between the contacts and the enclosure, and keep the specified time, observe whether the sample has breakdown or discharge phenomenon.
(5) connector contact resistance test
Reference standard: eia-364-06 / eia-364-23
Objective: to verify the resistance value of the current flowing through the contact surface of the contact.
Principle: the resistance value is obtained by measuring the voltage drop at both ends of the connector by specifying the current on the connector.
(6) connector vibration test
Reference standard: eia-364-28
Objective: to verify the effect of vibration on the performance of electrical connector and its components.
Vibration type: random vibration, sinusoidal vibration.
(7) mechanical impact test of connectors
Reference standard: eia-364-27
Purpose: to verify the impact resistance of connectors and their components or to evaluate their structure.
Test waveform: half sine wave, square wave.
(8) cold and hot shock test of connector
Reference standard: eia-364-32
Objective: to evaluate the effect of rapid large temperature difference on the functional quality of connectors.
(9) connector temperature and humidity combination cycle test
Reference standard: eia-364-31
Objective: to evaluate the performance of connectors stored under high temperature and high humidity.
(10) connector high temperature test
Reference standard: eia-364-17
Objective: to evaluate whether the terminal and insulator properties of connectors change after exposure to high temperature for a specified period of time.
(11) connector salt spray test
Reference standard: eia-364-26
Objective: to evaluate the corrosion resistance of connectors, terminals and coatings to salt spray.
(12) connector mixed gas corrosion test
Reference standard: eia-364-65
Objective: to evaluate the corrosion resistance of connectors exposed to different concentrations of mixed gases and its effect on their performance.
